Fiji's Most Thrilling Land Adventure
The Zip Fiji zipline complex is one of the most impressive adventure setups in the Pacific. 5 kilometres of cables strung through the jungle canopy, 16 individual lines, and a setting that includes not just the canopy but dramatic limestone cliffs, a river valley below, and views out to sea on clear days. It is easily the largest zipline operation in Fiji and rivals the best in Southeast Asia.
The cave component adds a completely different dimension. The Naihehe Caves are not a tourist show — they are genuine archaeological and cultural sites that have been used by indigenous Fijians for centuries. The caves include stalactites, stalagmites, underground chambers, and flowing water. Your guide explains the cultural and historical significance of the site as you explore.
Tripadvisor Top 5 in Fiji: The zipline and cave combo consistently appears in Tripadvisor's top-rated Fiji activities. It's particularly popular with travellers aged 18–45 looking for something beyond beach and island experiences.
The Zipline Experience
The 16 lines vary in length and height — some traverse open jungle with panoramic views, others fly through denser canopy closer to the ground. The longest line covers several hundred metres and includes a dramatic stretch over a river gorge. The guides manage your harness at each platform and provide clear instructions throughout.
No prior zipline experience is required. The equipment is top-grade and the safety briefing is thorough. The minimum age is 7 years, with a weight limit of approximately 120kg. The guides are experienced, professional, and consistently rated highly by visitors.
The Naihehe Cave Exploration
Naihehe Cave is located in a remote part of Sigatoka, accessible only with a guide. The cave is a natural limestone system with multiple chambers. Your guide provides headlamps and leads you through the cave, explaining its geological formation and its use by Fijians throughout history. Some caves in Fiji served as refuge sites during inter-tribal conflicts; Naihehe's history includes complex stories that your guide will share.
The cave exploration is not extreme — there is no crawling through tight passages or crossing underground water bodies. It is a walking exploration of accessible chambers with good headroom. Children over 7 are fully capable of completing it.
Tips for the Zipline & Cave Tour
- Wear closed-toe shoes. Open shoes and sandals are not permitted on the zipline for safety reasons.
- Secure loose items before each line. Anything not pocketed or zipped away risks falling during the zipline sections.
- Bring insect repellent for the cave section — the jungle environment around the cave entrance can have mosquitoes.
- The BBQ lunch is included — no need to eat a large breakfast beforehand unless you prefer to.
- The tour operates in most weather conditions. Light rain actually makes the zipline faster and is enjoyed by most participants.
